Manage your Tunnelwise license, linked devices, and seat allocation
License Management Console
The License Management Console (LMC) allows you to view and manage your Tunnelwise licenses, see linked devices, and free up device seats when needed.
Accessing the License Manager
- Navigate to tunnelwise.com/license-manager
- Enter the email address associated with your license purchase
- Check your inbox for a 6-digit verification code
- Enter the code to access your dashboard
The verification code expires after 10 minutes. If you don't receive the email, check your spam folder or request a new code after 60 seconds.
Dashboard Overview
Once authenticated, you'll see all licenses associated with your email address, including:
- License Key: Your unique TW-XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX license identifier
- Status: Current license state (Active, Expired, or Canceled)
- Device Seats: How many devices can use your license simultaneously
- Available Seats: How many seats are currently unused
- Updates Until: Date when your license update period expires
- Linked Devices: All devices currently using your license
Managing Devices
Viewing Linked Devices
Each device linked to your license displays:
- Device ID: A unique identifier for the device (truncated for privacy)
- Operating System: The macOS version running on the device
- App Version: Which version of Tunnelwise is installed
- Linked Date: When the device was connected to your license
Unlinking a Device
If you need to free up a seat (for example, when switching to a new Mac), you can unlink devices directly from the dashboard:
- Find the device you want to unlink in your license card
- Click the Unlink button
- Confirm the action in the dialog
Once unlinked, the device will immediately lose access to Tunnelwise. The seat becomes available for linking a new device.
Note: Unlinking a device does not delete any data from that device - it simply disconnects it from your license.
Understanding License Status
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Active | Your license is valid and can be used on devices |
| Expired | Your license update period has ended. The app continues to work, but you won't receive new updates |
| Canceled | Your license has been canceled (typically due to a refund) |
Troubleshooting
"No license found for this email"
This error appears when:
- The email doesn't match any purchase records
- The email was entered incorrectly
- The license was purchased with a different email
Solution: Try other email addresses you might have used, or contact support.
"Invalid or expired verification code"
The 6-digit code expires after 10 minutes.
Solution: Request a new code and enter it within the time limit.
Device won't unlink
If you're having trouble unlinking a device:
- Refresh the page and try again
- Check your internet connection
- Contact support if the issue persists
